The sun of the first weeks of a New Year has risen.
And I hope that every citizen will be more comfortable and happier in this New Year.
The past year was truly a memorable year for us.
The WE LEAD Foundation was able to become a reality on the International Youth Day (August 12, 2010) and also stand tall in the international arena by as of our inauguration we are the first on the island hosting the International Youth Year 2010-2011.
WE LEAD has now emerged currently as our mission says to empower and created the project (Youth Vision 5000 Foundation) which fits in our vision and mission statement.
Through such efforts we have proven that we can and have achieved much without any financial support yet from any group/organization nor company since August last year. We have marketed WE LEAD before it started during the project of Queen Prince and Joker’s Team in Carnival 2010 which excelled in all sense with the most important title of Carnival Queen 2010 Vijanti Persad, First Runner-up Teen Queen Ruenna Mercelina & King Daveney Sprott, and the successful best message and talent duo Eurshley Davelaar and Gwendell Mercelina, Jr.
We have been committed in the performance and projection of the YV5K in every step it took since the beginning of the foundation in June 23, 2010, active in important Debate of Radio Nederland Wereldomroep, but also empowering active young ambassadors that are/became attached to the WE LEAD Movement which are Norayla Francisco our national Miss Earth (which also has WE LEAD publicized on the Miss Earth website) and Ruenna Mercelina at the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus.
These accomplishments are the net result of our sweat and initiatives to creatively meet incessant challenges in world youth affairs. Let us make 2011 a year of solidarity and togetherness in rebuilding our nation following the catastrophic disaster of Tomas and the various problems caused by past crises in politics and other issues.
This new year will be decisive in the history of our nation and its future as it still is the first year of Pais Korsou.
I want my family and the next generations to grow up in a country that contributes to peace and stability in the region, and respects the rule of law and justice and freedom and human rights.
This year 2011 marks the beginning of the next decade.
The following 10 years will be the period for us to prove and make WE LEAD but also Curaçao to rise to an advanced, leading country in both name and reality. We will have to open a new era of Pais Korsou.
Based on what we have achieved thus far, this year should serve as a steppingstone to advancement in all sectors of society as our movements focuses on, including foreign affairs and security, the economy and quality of life, politics and civic awareness.
“Pais Korsou” is on a course of good fortunes.
This is an opportunity for the country to shine in the community of nations.
We have to grab the chance while we can. We have to take this opportunity to leap over the threshold to become an advanced nation.
This is an opportunity for the country to shine in the community of nations. We have to grab the chance while we can.
We have to take this opportunity to leap over the threshold to become an advanced nation. We can achieve this if we join forces and unite. If we want to do this, we first have to recognize and acknowledge each other. We have to respect each other. Each individual needs to exercise discipline accordingly.
To this end, let us join forces and work together towards making Curaçao a better place whether in politics, business, the culture industry, scientific community, the labor force or civic organizations.
I’m sure that WE LEAD and its movements will trigger the leadership and nation building feeling of every citizen.
That’s why I thank you for being part of our journey and we will keep you informed of every step we make.
As we celebrate this International Youth Year: Dialogue and Mutual Understanding, let us acknowledge and celebrate what youth can do to build a safer community, more just world.
Let us strengthen our efforts to include young people to take an active part in the policies, programmes and decision-making processes of local, national and global levels that benefit our futures.
I ask all the WE LEADers out there, to join our journey and help making our movements first phase a successful one.
Join, discuss and interact, as well for interested youngsters and adults. If each of you recruit 11 friends to ‘like’ WE LEAD on Facebook we’ll meet approximately 11,000 fans and spread our messages so much further.
Go ahead and use the ‘suggest to friends’ button under the logo and see what we can achieve together.
If you want to get more involved join the WE LEAD Facebook Group, where you can get all the closed information shared, the logo-decisions and strategy planning for the upcoming years. And don’t forget to sent a friend-request to We Lead Curaçao. We have so much to achieve this year.
And WE LEAD will stand ready to do its best side by side with every citizen especially the youngsters to realize these goals, to raise the status of all sectors of our nation to the next level. Let us together open the door to our promised future in the global community.
I wish all a 2011 filled with leadership, determination, honesty, love and possibilities, so you can make this new year and all those to come the story of a lifetime.
Yours faithfully,
Mr. Gwendell Mercelina II
