The University of the West Indies last Friday conferred an Honourary Degree of Doctor of Laws to double Olympic World Record holder, Usain Bolt.
The Honourable Usain St. Leo Bolt born 21 August 1986, is a Jamaican sprinter and a five-time World and three-time Olympic gold medalist. He is the world record and Olympic record holder in the 100 metres, the 200 metres and (along with his teammates) the4×100 metres relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in these three events.
World record breaking sprinter Usain Bolt from Jamaica is now Dr. Usain Bolt!
Bolt was conferred with honorary degree of Doctor of Law by the University of the West Indies Mona during the schools graduation ceremony on November 4th, 2011.
He will now be referred to as Dr. The Honourable Ambassador Fastest Man in the World Usain Bolt.
Bolt was awarded mainly for his 2008 and 2009 exploits on the track where he ran 9.69 seconds for the 100m and 19.30 seconds for the 200m. At the World Championships the following year, he ran 9.58 seconds for the 100m and 19.19 seconds in the 200m.
