ORANJESTAD, Aruba –  There is a new Miss Aruba 2011  and she was crowned on December 14, 2011.

First we will blog about the former Miss Aruba,  Gillain Berry. 

Gillain Berry  is an Aruban model and was crowned Miss Aruba 2010 on December 4, 2010 and she represented her country in Miss Universe 2011 and Miss World 2011 (Top 30 Beach Beauty Fast Track).

Prior to competing in Miss Aruba, Berry worked as a professional model, appearing on local television commercials and magazine ads.

Gillain (pronounced jill-lane) was born in Jamaica, but has lived on Aruba since she was six years old. She is as comfortable with Papiamento as the English spoken in her home. She graduated from Aruba’s EPI Middle School with an Associate Degree in Hospitality Management and plans to follow further studies in the Netherlands.

“I am very proud and grateful to have been selected to represent Aruba at this prestigious world event,” Gillain Berry told media. “I am highly motivated and will work very hard over the next nine months towards becoming a real presence at the Miss Universe Pageant; I am determined to bring the title home to Aruba.”

Personally we would like to congratulate a beautiful friend, and someone who we are extremely proud of .

Aruban beauties in International Pageants in 2011

Lucianette Verhoeks was selected as the official Miss Aruba 2011 at the conclusion of a special crowning ceremony by Gillain Berry held at the House of Mosaic in Oranjestad.

Aruba has encountered some issues regarding the international franchises, and the Star Promotion now doesn’t hold the international rights to the Miss Universe. But the winner or selected delegate will get the opportunity to represent Aruba in all the other grand slam pageants like Miss World, Miss International, Miss Earth, Miss Caraibes Hibiscus, Reina HispanoAmericana and so on.

We hope for the sake of the nation, that the Miss Universe returns under one roof, they have been doing lately a really good work regarding the support for their local ambassador towards international grand slams.

Lucianette Verhoeks is from Santa Cruz, Aruba. She is 18 year old.

She will represent Aruba in Miss World 2012 in Ordos, Inner Mongolia on July 4.

Due to lack of financial support, the Miss Aruba pageant was postponed for July 2012 where Miss Aruba 2012-2013 will be elected in the Hyatt Regency Aruba ballroom. Aruba wishes to participate at Miss World 2012 to be held in June 2012, and therefore appointed Lucianette Verhoeks as the most qualified for the job.

Under the direction of Star Promotion Organization since 1992, Aruba has been accumulating positive results, with Taryn Mansell placing as first runner-up in 1996 at Miss Universe and Tamara Scaroni, becoming the first Aruban to receive the Miss Congeniality award in 2000; representatitves placing as semifinalists in 1990, 1996, 2002, along with a first runner-up in 2001 at Miss World; and another semifinalist in Miss International 2001, three Best National Costume awards in 2000, 2007, 2008 and a first runner-up placement in 1994 at Miss International.
