The Golden Globes 2013 nominations are here.

The 70th Golden Globe Awards honoring the best in film and television of 2012, will be broadcast live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California on January 13, 2013, by NBC.

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will co-host. Nominations were announced on December 13 by Jessica Alba, Megan Fox and Ed Helms. The Cecil B. DeMille Award, honoring the lifetime achievements of actors and filmmakers, was announced on November 1, 2012 with Jodie Foster being the latest recipient of that trophy.

Lincoln leads the Golden Globe nominations in the film categories with seven nominations. Argo follows in its heels with five nominations. Django Unchained also has five noms.

HBO’s Game Change is the leader in the TV category, with five nominations. HBO also leads in the total number of noms in the TV sector: 17.

Among the films with the most to gain from Globes nominations are “Django Unchained,” “Life of Pi” and “Moonrise Kingdom,” none of which figured heavily in the Screen Actors Guild nominations, which were earlier announced.

“Flight” picked up a nomination for Denzel Washington, but failed to get attention for picture and directing.  Three of the five nominated films for best animation come from the Disney empire.

The Golden Globes are voted on by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. Per the Globes website, the group was found during World War II.
